ULTRA RARE WORLD WAR II "RESTRICTED" AND NUMBERED DOCUMENT, PART OF THE EXPANSIVE "GERMANY BASIC HANDBOOK", THIS LISTING IS FOR PART III NAZI OCCUPIED EUROPE, AND INCLUDES AS A BONUS A FEW ADDITIONAL SECTIONS FROM ANOTHER PART OF THIS EXPANSIVE SET OF DOCUMENTS.
The "Germany Basic Handbook" was published by the British Ministry of Economic Warfare in July 1944 and 1945. It was a resource for soldiers and civilians posted in occupied Germany after WWII. I was able to find out little about this "Restricted" and Numbered expansive document. The Handbook had at least 3 Parts, maybe more - I only found information on the first 3 parts. Part 1 was titled, Geographic, Historical and Social, and had 127 pages. Part 2 was titled, Administration, and had 16 chapters with 8 annexes and a glossary, about 700 pages (not clear from my source on the internet). PART 3 IS THE PART OF THIS LISTING, TITLED NAZI OCCUPIED EUROPE. It has 116 pages with 5 folding maps, all present, 3 shown in listing photos. Besides these "Parts", there were also "Zone Reports" produced, "Map Sections", and lettered "Sections". The only other listing of parts, maybe the entirety, of this Handbook described an "Economic Survey Section K".
As noted, this listing is primarily for Part III Nazi Occupied Europe, which is a self-contained stapled booklet with hole punches for use in a binder. It measures about 12.7" by 8.0", has orange construction paper covers and was dated October, 1944. Also included in this listing is Annexe VIII Social Security of Part II, Administration. This is also stapled with orange covers and hole punched. It has 28 pages with a single fold-out shown in listing photo. Included is the overall title page of Part II, Administration, in light brown construction paper, dated April 1944. Another single leaf here is the overall Table of Contents for Part II. Finally, there were two self-contained Chapters from Part II, Administration - one was Chapter IV The German Fiscal System (page 59-68; one fold out table) and Chapter V The German Legal System (page 69-109). All of these pieces were part of a copy numbered 5082, and the previous owner inked his/her name on the top edge of a few of the pieces. The signature looks like, D.W. Montenagor (?).
OVERALL A RARE AND UNIQUE ITEM PRODUCED BY THE UK FOR USE BY INDIVIDUALS IN THE REBUILD OF GERMANY AFTER WORLD WAR II.
