Richard Wyers - 'The Empress Needlecase'
A rare 19th century Victorian circa. 1870's
Avery style needle case.
The case having central cartouche with Queen Victorian, Empress of India, to centre depicted holding fan, surrounded by foliated and flanked by lettering within wings to read 'Empress Needle Case'.
The reverse being marked for 'Richard Wyers Improved Patented Needle Case' and being surrounded by repeating motifs of Anglo-Indian appearance.
The case being in the form of an envelope and opening to reveal four booklets with intricate patterning and cartouches with numbers corresponding to different types of needles being manufactured at the time.
Measures 82mm length.
