Peridot, the vibrant green variety of the mineral olivine, is a magnesium iron silicate with the chemical composition (Mg,Fe)₂SiO₄. Its colour – always naturally green – arises from iron within its crystal structure, and no other gem captures this particular hue in quite the same way.
This 3.15-carat gem comes from the mountainous regions of Pakistan, where some of the world’s finest Peridot is found. High up in the rugged terrain of the Kohistan and Gilgit-Baltistan areas, Peridot crystals are unearthed from within ancient volcanic rock, formed deep in the Earth’s upper mantle and brought to the surface through powerful geological activity.
Most crystals are small, heavily included, or shattered from the extraction process. Facetable, clean Peridot of this size and clarity is rare.
Measuring 11.10 x 9.10 x 4.50 mm, this piece has been expertly cut with concave facets on the pavilion, creating a distinctive play of light that enhances its natural brilliance and gives it a striking presence when viewed from any angle. Small, precise grooves around the base of the stone add further texture and dimension – a detail that sets this gem apart from standard faceting styles.
