1725 SCIENCE & Existence of
God Dutch Nieuwentyt Spinoza Philosophy ILLUSTRATED
Bernard Nieuwentyt was a 17th-century Dutch philosopher who
was best-remembered for his attacks and opposition of Baruch Spinoza. Spinoza
was called an atheist by many of his peers, including Nieuwentyt who, in his
book “Het Regt Gebruik” argues for
the existence of God, calling out Spinoza for his atheistic views. Nieuwentyt
uses the arguments of creation and divine miracles to defend the character and
existence of God.
The illustrations found in this work, curiously include views of
anatomy, science experiments, earth sciences, optics, and much more, all
provided through the lens of God’s divine hand.
