A beautifully made, top quality gold tooled leather box by Finnigans of Manchester & London. It is also lined with leather, and has a very strong concealed brass hinge and tightly closing lid, so it may have been for snuff, or possibly visiting cards. The lid doesn't stay open on its own, hence the lolly stick prop! It is decoratively blind stamped on the back and sides. I believe it is late 19th or early 20th century. The condition is very good for its age, there are some light surface scratches, very minor wear to the gilding, and a little bit of loss to the leather and a small split on one end of the hinge, please see photos.
It measures 8.3cm x 6cm x 1.5cm.
