About the Garmin Venu 3
|
|
The Venu 3 is the lifestyle Garmin for people who want to make and receive phone calls from their wrist. It’s the only watch in the current Venu lineup with a built-in speaker and microphone — a feature the Venu 4 actually dropped. When paired with a smartphone, you can take calls, access your voice assistant (Google Assistant on Android, Siri on iOS), and reply to texts. Sleep coaching and nap detection are among the best features: the Sleep Coach provides personalized recommendations for how much sleep you need, and nap detection automatically logs daytime naps and shows their effect on Body Battery.
The Elevate Gen 5 HR sensor provides 24/7 optical heart rate. The barometric altimeter tracks elevation gain, loss, and floors climbed accurately — a meaningful upgrade over GPS-only elevation in lower-tier models. Health tracking includes Body Battery (0–100 energy scale), HRV Status overnight trend, all-day stress, Pulse Ox, Health Snapshot, Jetlag Advisor, women’s health, respiration rate, and both Morning and Evening Reports. Music storage holds 8 GB for Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer playlists for phone-free listening. Garmin Pay works on all variants.
What the Venu 3 does not include: no multi-band GPS (single-band GNSS only), no ECG (the Gen 5 hardware supports it but Garmin has not enabled the ECG app on the Venu 3), no LED flashlight, and no health trends logging. For those features, the Venu 4 adds them all — but drops the speaker and microphone. If wrist calls are a priority, the Venu 3 is the right choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
|
|
Can I make phone calls on the Venu 3?
Yes — the Venu 3 has a built-in speaker and microphone for wrist calls when paired with a compatible smartphone. It also supports voice assistant access (Google Assistant on Android, Siri on iOS). This is the only current Venu model with this capability; the Venu 4 does not have a speaker or mic.
What’s the difference between the 41mm and 45mm?
The 45mm (Venu 3) has a larger 1.4" display, 22mm band, ~46g weight, and up to 14 days battery / 26 hours GPS. The 41mm (Venu 3S) has a 1.2" display, 18mm band, ~35g weight, and up to 10 days battery / 21 hours GPS. All features and sensors are identical — only size, display, and battery differ.
Does the Venu 3 have ECG or multi-band GPS?
No to both. The Gen 5 sensor has ECG-capable hardware but Garmin has not enabled the ECG app on the Venu 3. The GPS is single-band GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo) — no multi-band L1+L5. The Venu 4 adds both active ECG and multi-band GPS but removes the speaker and mic.
How does the Venu 3 compare to the Venu 4?
The Venu 4 adds multi-band GPS, an LED flashlight, active ECG, and health trends logging. The Venu 3 keeps the speaker and microphone for wrist calls that the Venu 4 dropped. Choose the Venu 3 if wrist calls matter; choose the Venu 4 for the latest GPS accuracy, ECG, and flashlight.
