Description
Meteorites are stones that originate in outer space from particles of comets, the asteroid belt, and planets and have survived the fall through Earth's atmosphere. The composition and color range of the meteorite is varied. There are three classes of the meteorite: the irons, chondrites, and achondrites. The irons are comprised of mainly iron and nickel; the chondrites are comprised of stone, and the achondrites are comprised of very rare stony-irons consisting of stone fragments and/or beautiful olivine crystals embedded in a nickel-iron matrix.
Item Includes
Three types of meteorite specimens as seen in photos.
The items pictured are a sample of the ones you will receive, each Meteorite is unique, special and rare.

Sikhote-Alin, Russia
Iron Meteorite (coarse octahedrite); 93% iron, 5.9% nickel, .42% cobalt, .68% other (phosphorus, germanium, iridium).
This meteor fell to earth mid-morning on Feb. 12,1947 in the eastern Siberia. Observers saw a fireball brighter than the sun with a ten-mile smoke trail and heard a deafening roar. The meteor broke up several miles above earth, creating a “rain” of shrapnel. Fortunately, the rain fell in an uninhabited area.
The meteor hit at a speed of 8.7 miles per second. The shrapnel covered an elliptical area of one-half square mile. The largest of the impact craters was 90 feet across and 20 feet deep. The weight of the meteor is estimated to be over 200,000 pounds.
Sahara Desert, Morocco
Iron Meteorite (coarse octahedrite); on average 92.5% iron, 6.68% nickel, with many different trace elements.
Wind erosion and shifting sands unearthed many buried meteorite specimens in the vast Sahara Desert of northwest Africa. The dry desert has preserved the meteorites from rust and disintegration. The exact location of many of these specimens is unknown. The specimens are typically found by wandering nomads.
Often these meteorites are easy to spot since they appear as a black ‘rock’ on fine white sand. The meteorites are sometimes found in cairns... small rock piles used to mark desert camel tracks.
Campo del Cielo, Argentina
Iron Meteorite (coarse octahedrite); on average 92.5% iron, 6.68% nickel, with many different trace elements.
Campo del Cielo iron meteorites were discovered in 1571 about 500 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is estimated the fall occured 4,000-6,000 years ago at Campo del Cielo (meaning “field of sky” or “heaven”).
The largest Campo meteorite weighs about 35 tons. Understandably, it is one of Argentina’s national treasures. The meteorite, when sliced, polished, and acid etched, shows lines known as the ‘widmanstatten’ pattern, the tell-tale sign of a “metal space rock”.

About The Seller
My wife and I became rockhounds over 20 years ago when we realized how much we enjoyed looking for crystals that we could use or display in our home. We are intrigued by the metaphysical properties that have been associated with different kinds of minerals as well as their esthetic beauty and collect-ability. You will find rocks all over in and around our home. We decided to use what we have learned about rocks and combine that with our 30+ years of experience each in the graphic arts (photography and styling) to start selling our specimens here on eBay. We do our very best to portray our specimens as close as possible to how they really look.
Whether you have a passion for rocks, are interested in their metaphysical properties or are looking for a collectable or decorative piece, we have a specimen for you.
Thanks for looking!
