This baseball sheet music was printed in 1950, when the Major Leagues were comprised of sixteen teams, eight in the National League and eight in the American League. Of the sixteen teams in 1950, six are no longer in existence, those being Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants, Philadelphia Athletics, St. Louis Browns, and Washington Senators. Of course the other ten teams still in existence, i.e., New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, etc., they are all mentioned in the words to this music.
This sheet music is 9 inches by 12 inches in size. Although this music was published in New York and lithographed in the United States, this particular copy was sold in Fort Worth, Texas, by the Ault Music Co. who stamped all their sheet music with their company stamp, shown in the right-hand margin. At the very top inside on the first page of the music is the name "Johnnie Bonds" written in pencil; obviously this music was owned by Johnnie in the 1950s. This sheet music is in very good condition, as the observer can tell by looking at the photos attached above.
Although the music is "only" 72-years old, it was an entirely different era as far as baseball was concerned. Starting pitchers were not held strictly to a specific pitch count, there were no designated hitters, there were no NL/AL playoffs preceding the World Series between the winners of each league, along with a whole host of different proceedings.
I thank you for viewing my EBAY auction item. (Please note: I do not ship internationally.) God bless.
