Up for sale is a vintage 1979 original oil on canvas painting by German-Canadian artist Helmut Gransow (1921-2012). This impressionistic rural Quebec landscape is an exceptionally well executed work employing a sophisticated knowledge of color, light and perspective.

The painting itself is measuring 24” (61 cm) by 30” (76 cm), and the frame is measuring about 30” (76 cm) by 36” (91 cm).

It is signed by the artist in the lower left corner as well as signed, titled and dated verso.

This painting would be a very sound investment and a great addition to any collection.

                             Helmut Gransow (1921-2012) RCA

Born in Chemnitz, Germany, he studied under Professor Max Kaus at the Academy of Fine Art, Berlin, and with Professor Wilhelm Schnarrenberger in Karlsruhe. He came to Canada in 1949 and has since exhibited his landscapes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, The Royal Ontario Museum, the Hamilton Art Gallery, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the London Public Library and Art Museum, and the Art Gallery of the University of British Columbia.
His graphics have attracted considerable attention, particularly his block prints and monotypes.
His awards include honourable mentions in the Quebec Provincial Exhibition (1958), The Winnipeg Show (1958) and a purchase award from the Art Gallery f Hamilton (1959). He is also represented in the London Public Library and Art Museum and the Calgary Arts Centre.
He was a member of The Society of Canadian Painter-Etchers and Engravers (1956). He was an elected member of The Royal Canadian Academy.  Gransow lived in Morin Heights, Quebec and died in Les Résidences Desjardins in Saint Sauveur Québec in 2012.
