Here's a great, typed letter dated Columbus, August 1, 1844 by the Whig State Central Committee Room and signed (typed) by 10 committee members.  The content covers County meeting business and in the sixth paragraph the idea of forming Clay Clubs in Townships is mentioned.  In the final paragraph it is noted that some "German pamphlets on Native Americanism" will also be sent.  The letter has a Harrison County, Ohio address with a postmark of AUG 9 and the recipient is Hon. Daniel Kilgore, who was a U.S. Representative from Ohio's 19th district, serving from Dec. 1, 1834 through July 5, 1838.  Printed on a single, large 10  1/4" by 15  1/2" page with the content on one side and a blank reverse side.  There are some tears in places with minor material loss, fold marks and discoloration typical in a document of this age.  There are pencil notations on the address side of the page with what appears to be remnants from an embossed wax seal.
