Die Serenade Nr. 12 für Bläser in c-Moll KV 388/384a wurde 1782 oder 1783 von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart geschrieben. Das Werk wird manchmal als "Nachtmusik" bezeichnet . 1787 transkribierte Mozart das Werk für Streichquintett . Diese Transkription ist als Streichquintett KV 406/516b erhalten.
Das Oktett Es-Dur von Ludwig van Beethoven op. 103, ist ein Werk für zwei Oboen, zwei Klarinetten, zwei Fagotte und zwei Hörner. Beethoven schrieb das Werk 1792 in Bonn, bevor er sich in Wien niederließ. Er überarbeitete und erweiterte das Oktett 1795 als sein erstes Streichquintett, Op. 4. Das Oktett wurde erst 1834 von Artaria veröffentlicht, was die trotz des Entstehungsdatums hohe Opuszahl erklärt.
Das Frontispiz der autographen Partitur enthält den Satz „in einem Konzert“, was beweist, dass das Stück (zumindest in einer Phase) für ein Konzert bestimmt war.
Serenade für Blasinstrumente, Violoncello und Kontrabass in d-Moll, Op. 44, B. 77, ist eine Kammerkomposition des tschechischen Komponisten Antonín Dvořák. Das Werk ist dem Musikkritiker und Komponisten Louis Ehlert gewidmet, der die Slawischen Tänze in der deutschen Presse hoch gelobt hat.
Es entstand 1878, kurz nach der Uraufführung der Oper Der schlaue Bauer, eine von fünfzehn Kompositionen, die er für das Österreichische Staatsstipendium einreichte. Das Werk wurde erstmals am 17. November 1878 bei einem ausschließlich Dvořáks Werken gewidmeten Konzert mit dem Orchester des Prager Provisorischen Theaters (tschechisch: Prozatímní) gehört. Die Komposition wurde unter der Leitung des Komponisten aufgeführt.
Die Serenade beschwört die Atmosphäre der alten Welt musikalischer Darbietungen in den Schlössern des Rokoko herauf, wo die Welten der Aristokratie und des einfachen Volkes verschmolzen. Es ist im 'slawischen' Stil komponiert (kurz vor den Slawischen Tänzen), zitiert aber nicht direkt Volkslieder; und der mittlere Teil des zweiten Satzes enthält Rhythmen, die an den furianten Tanz erinnern.
Die Serenade ist für zwei Oboen, zwei Klarinetten, zwei Fagotte und drei Hörner geschrieben. Der Komponist fügte später Teile für Cello und Kontrabass hinzu, um die Kraft der Basslinie zu verstärken. Die Kontrafagottstimme wurde ad lib hinzugefügt, da es zu Dvořáks Zeiten nicht einfach war, an dieses ungewöhnliche Instrument zu kommen.

Information about the works
The Serenade No. 12 for Winds in C minor KV 388/384a was written in 1782 or 1783 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The work is sometimes referred to as "Night Music". In 1787 Mozart transcribed the work for string quintet. This transcription has been preserved as a string quintet KV 406/516b.
The Octet in E flat major by Ludwig van Beethoven, op. 103, is a work for two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons and two horns. Beethoven wrote the work in Bonn in 1792 before settling in Vienna. He revised and expanded the octet in 1795 as his first string quintet, Op. 4. The octet was not published until 1834 by Artaria, which explains the high opus number despite the date of its composition.
The frontispiece of the autograph score contains the phrase 'in a concert', proving that the piece was (at least at one stage) intended for a concert.
Serenade for wind instruments, cello and double bass in D minor, Op. 44, B. 77 is a chamber composition by the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák. The work is dedicated to the music critic and composer Louis Ehlert, who highly praised the Slavic Dances in the German press.
It was written in 1878, shortly after the premiere of the opera Der Schlaue Bauer, one of fifteen compositions that he submitted for the Austrian State Scholarship. The work was first heard on November 17, 1878 at a concert dedicated exclusively to Dvořák's works with the orchestra of the Prague Provisional Theater (Czech: Prozatímní). The composition was performed under the direction of the composer.
The Serenade evokes the old-world atmosphere of musical performances in Rococo castles, where the worlds of aristocracy and common people merged. It is composed in the 'Slavic' style (just before the Slavic Dances) but does not quote folk songs directly; and the middle part of the second movement contains rhythms reminiscent of the furious dance.
The Serenade is scored for two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons and three horns. The composer later added parts for cello and double bass to increase the power of the bass line. The contrabassoon part was added ad lib, as it was not easy to get hold of this unusual instrument in Dvořák's day.
