The Schottel drive unit was developed by the Schottel Company for ships requiring very high maneuverability. Integrating the propeller shaft and rudder as the propulsion system, the Schottell system has a Kort nozzle that has the effect of increasing the effective thrust and itself is mounted under the bottom of the hull. Since the nozzle can be freely swiveled around its longitudinal axis, the water flow can be freely deflected instead of the ship's rudder. The Schottel Drive Unit II is the same as the original design, but the unit is geared down 3:1 for use with the powerful 12V motor. A large 65mm propeller can be used as a propulsion system for a large and heavy boat model, so the propeller generates powerful propulsion power. The main assembly is made of plastic and is very strong and the powerful servos are installed in special servo mounts. The swivel range of the drive itself has no mechanical limits. A servo mount can be mounted adjacent to the shaft.
