Vetus GRP stern tube & stern gland
Stern tube
The Vetus GRP stern tube can be easily installed by being bonded into the hull. It is corrosion-resistant and easy to install.
The shaft tube is provided with a cutless bearing as standard, together with a securing bolt. The shaft seal, if required, should be separately added to your order using the 'Add to basket' option.
The cutless bearing is designed to be water-lubricated, either fed from a take-off from the engine cooling water or from a stand-alone water scoop with hose (these are usually connected onto the stern gland).
The stern tube is provided in 500mm or 1000mm lengths but can be cut to length if required.
Stern gland seal
The new Vetus ZWBH stern gland seal is designed for use with water-lubricated stern gear. The new 'monoblock' design works the same was as the original Vetus ZWB seals, with the addition of an extra lip seal (3 in total) for added security.
The ZWBH has minimal friction and oil-resistant and grease-resistant. It has a 10mm hose pillar for water injection. The gland is secured with two hose clamps (provided).
Vetus advise annual lubrication of the shaft with silicon grease to keep the seal in optimal condition. A small tube of grease is included.
