This pincushion Kit is ideal for beginners to have a proper taste on sashiko - a unique country embroidery from Japan.

Sashiko uses only one stitch - the simplest running stitch - to create striking patterns on indigo fabrics. It is easy to learn, quick to sew, and the result is stunning.

For a good experience and results, it is important for beginners to start with special sashiko fabric, needle and thread. These are specially made for sashiko and different from the standard needles and threads for hand sewing and embroidery.

As it can be difficult and sometimes pricy to source these items separately,  we have created a Sashiko Pincusion DIY Kit with everything you need, along with two stitch patterns and sewing instructions.

* Kit for making one or two pincushions

* 2 sashiko patterns included

* 1 piece of vintage loom-woven fabric is included as lining fabric in the Kit (although we think it is so beautiful and unique and can be used as the main fabric for another pincushion!)

* The sashiko pattern and sewing instruction for the pincushion is also available in printed paper version and digital PDF version. Please check our other listing for them if you just want to make the pincushion without sashiko embroidery, or you already have all the sashiko supplies.

*** Please note that the lining fabric in the kit can be of different shades or patterns and will be sent at random. We make sure that they all match the main fabric nicely. You can simply change it to any of your own fabric with other colour or design. ***

Make more with different sashiko patterns - check our sashiko stencils which will help you to quickly draft beautiful patterns directly on fabric and can be used over and over again for other projects!
