INTRODUCTION

David Vance continues to blaze new territory in the world of erotic male photography. Clearly his latest work “Erotic Dreams” has met with rave reviews, and many a night has been occupied with vivid dreams as a result.

“Timeless Bodies” is a compilation of Vance’s finest images from two of his earlier works published while he was still getting “noticed” as the superb photographer that he is. For the first time, David Vance presents the best photographs from his books “Heavenly Bodies” (2009) and “Timeless” (2006) in a new volume of 160 pages titled “Timeless Bodies.”

David Vance has become one of the world's most successful photographers in male erotic photography and photographer of international stars such as Dionne Warwick, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, William Baldwin, Sophia Loren and many more. However, “Timeless Bodies” concentrates on figures emphasizing his recreation of timeless attitudes and poses of athletic young men.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Of Italian descent, David Vance has been surrounded by the atmosphere of his heritage since childhood. The painting, the sculpture, the music, and the literature of his world exposed him at an early age to the classics in observing life. He sees beauty through the eyes of his ancestors and creates beauty in their same vision. Although during his 40-year career he has had some commercial success in advertising, editorial and portrait photography, shooting campaigns and photographing celebrities, at his core is the heart and sensibility of an artist.  He shares his home in Miami, FL with his longtime companion, friend and confident, Kyle Plyler.

There are ten prior coffee table books of his work: “Visions, The Ultimate Book of Nudes, The Woods, David Vance/Photographs, Attractions, Timeless, Heavenly Bodies, Erotic Dreams, Jungle Fever (self-published), Timeless Bodies, and Men and Gods.” There are several newer titles since this review was written.

SUMMARY

“Timeless Bodies” is a hardcover volume with a pictorial illustrated thick pressed paper/cloth coverboard, and pictorial dust jacket, as issued. “Timeless Bodies” is a full-size title that measures 11 ¼ x 8 ½ inches (28.6 x 21.6 cm) and contains 160 pages of black and white, toned, and sepia as well as vivid color, full bleed, multi-page and bordered photographic images arranged on thick pages. No production expense was spared here – a truly classy project. The images are nothing short of striking! Shipping weight is 2 lbs. 14 oz (1.3 Kg). All the pages are unpaginated. “Timeless Bodies” is offered in As New/New (Jacket/Book) condition. This First Edition from 2013 is extremely well preserved and has been sleeved since we received it. There is minimal typical rubbing to the dust jacket which occurred before our receipt, during production and shipping. I have adjusted the grading and the price for this, but still regard this copy of “Timeless Bodies” as nearly perfect. The beauty of the male nude physique photography is classical and highly artistic, not porn, so if that’s what you are seeking, this title is not for you. This title sold out quickly and copies in this auction’s represented condition are extremely scarce. Only one copy of “Timeless Bodies” will be made available for auction at this time.

I should note that our copies of “Timeless Bodies” have been stored in a clean air environment with temperature and humidity controlled since acquisition.
