Allen Bolt

We offer a wide selection of socket screws that are useful in many applications requiring a strong bolt or screw that cannot be accessed easily.

An allen head cap screw is a screw that has a hexagonal or shaped head, and it can be tightened and removed using a hexagonal or shaped wrench.

Currently, metric threads are the most common type of thread in production. This is typically indicated by 'M'. These bolts have an M and then the length (M x mm)

A thread size of M5 x 20 indicates that the major thread diameter (the distance across the outside of the thread) is 5 mm and that the thread length is 20 mm. Length is measured from the underside of the head.

Hex Head Bolt

This type of bolt often has 'Hex Head' in the product title. Known more commonly as hex bolts, hexagon bolts are threaded bolts with a plain shank and hexagon head.

These bolts do not in fact have a hexagonal shaped head. As the image illustrates, these bolts have a round head with an allen hex key drive hole.

A2 Stainless Steel

304 stainless steel of this grade is the standard industrial grade used to make stainless hex head bolts. A2 is the most commonly used of all stainless steel fasteners.

The corrosion resistance of this steel is superior to that of standard steels such as plain steel and galvanized steel. When using this type of product outdoors in a marine environment, you should consider using A4 grade (SS316).

It is less likely that stainless steel will corrode, rust, or stain when exposed to water as it does to ordinary steel. The material is not fully stain-proof when the ambient oxygen level is low, the salinity level is high, or the air circulation is poor. It is possible to find different grades of stainless steel and a variety of surface finishes according to the type of environment in which the alloy will be used. There are situations in which stainless steel is required because it has both high strength and corrosion resistance properties.

Stainless steel A2 is often referred to as stainless steel 304 or 18/8. As the name implies, 18/8 refers to the amount of chromium and nickel in the alloy. About 18% chromium and 8% nickel are contained in the alloy.

Steel A2 (304, 18/8) has a non-magnetic composition and is an austenitic steel. In addition to providing corrosion resistance, the chromium also provides oxidation resistance, however it can also tarnish. In addition, it is resistant to a wide variety of inorganic chemicals as well as most organic chemicals and sterilizing solutions. Therefore, this material is extensively used in sinks, table tops, stoves, refrigerators, pots, pans, dairy equipment, brewing plants, fruit farms, food processing plants, dye tanks, and pipelines, among other applications.

304 Grade

Among austenitic stainless steels, type 304 is the most versatile and widely used due to its chromium-nickel content and low carbon content. These alloys are all modified forms of the 18% chromium, 8% nickel austenitic alloy. In addition to being resistant to oxidation and corrosion, type 304 is also durable and long lasting. Each of these alloys provides ease of fabrication and cleaning, prevents contamination, and provides a variety of finishes and finishes.

We advise A4 stainless steel if your applications calls for a marine grade stainless steel.
