Snellius Minerals Isotropic versus Anisotropic Kit IAK2

This item is an educational kit from Snellius Minerals LLC designed to highlight the differences between the optical properties of isotropic and anisotropic minerals.  The kit consists of natural calcite, fluorite, tourmaline, and spinel crystals.  You'll want a polariscope as well to utilize the kit!  The first photo is of the kit when viewed with crossed polarizers using a polariscope.  The video included shows off the pleochroism of the tourmaline crystal in plane polarized light, and the extinction of the isotropic spinel and fluorite with crossed polarizers.  If you want to learn more and see a demonstration of the Isotropic versus Anisotropic Kit in action check out the video "Snellius Minerals LLC Isotropic versus Anisotropic Kit" on Youtube.

Each of these kits is unique, as they are composed of natural crystals.  However, all have been tested and should be able to demonstrate the experiments shown in the Youtube video.  Thank you, and check out some of our other items for sale.  We aim to provide the nerdiest mineral samples possible!  Combined shipping available for many items.
