This is a custom designed, compact charging dock for the Playdate handheld game system by Panic. It's a one-piece, 3D-printed shell made from an eco-friendly, bioplastic material known as PLA. The Playdate sits down into the dock and starts charging. The dock contains a right-angle USB-C adapter pre-installed. You will still need to provide your own USB-C to USB-C cable, such as the one that came with your Pocket, as well as a charging brick. The dock is weighted, coming in at 85g, the same weight as the Playdate itself. This gives the dock + Playdate a bit of heft when sitting on your desktop.
A lot of work went into modeling and prototyping this charging dock. I carefully manufacture and test each one using my own Playdate to ensure that it seats properly and charges properly. It takes several hours to produce just one charging dock and I make sure that each one passes my level of quality assurance.
