- In fuel injected engines, the throttle body is an important part of your air intake system that controls the air flowing into your engine. It's a butterfly valve located between the air intake filter and the intake manifold, and is essential to the mixture of fuel and air in the engine.
- When a throttle body doesn't work, the engine is not going to receive air and won't start. If the throttle gets stuck in an open position, the vehicle will receive too much air and cause high idle. Therefore, if your throttle body fails, replace it as soon as possible, and your vehicle will drive like new.

How To Replace A Throttle Body:
- Step 1: Find the throttle body, and remove the air intake duct.
- Step 2: Check if there is carbon buildup. After prolonged use, the throttle hole will be worn, so you need replace it.
- Step 3: Remove the throttle cable from the throttle body control lever, and disconnect any air or vacuum hoses.
- Step 4: Remove the throttle position sensor from the throttle body.
- Step 5: Remove the throttle body mounting screws and remove the throttle body assembly.
- Step 6: Replace the old gasket between the throttle body and manifold during installation.
- Step 7: Ensure the sensors, hoses and cables are all routed correctly to the new throttle body and that it mounts correctly to the intake manifold.
Notes:
- Do not disconnect any electrical connectors to the throttle body assembly with the ignition switch on the "ON" position. Make sure the ignition switch is off first.
- Some electronic throttle body assemblies have coolant hose attachments that must be removed during replacement. To prevent coolant loss, plug hoses upon removal.
- After the replacement of the electronic throttle body, the idle speed may be different or vary. A relearn procedure may be required on the vehicle.
