What?s Kumiko ?
This technique of binding wooden pieces and parts together without any nails nor glue is a method used throughout Japan from its ancient period. It was presumably cultivated in the Asuka period (538-710) in order to construct temples, the technique is still applied in modern time through various means. Primarily, the technique of Kumiko-zaiku was applied toFusuma-doors and transom windows. This Kumiko package will allow you to be exposed to the the enriched technique of Kumiko in a much more casual manner. Cocktail coasters, wall ornaments, etc.
