The Argentina 5 Australes banknote is part of the family of notes issued in 1985-1989 bearing the first design specifically for the austral currency. This particular paper bill is in uncirculated condition. On its obverse is a portrait of the third president Justo Jose de Urquiza. The reverse of the banknote features the seated Liberty called Progreso holding a torch, with a shield and a banner, and surrounded with laurels. This 155 x 65 mm paper banknote has no security thread. It has a watermark which consists of a sunburst pattern. It also bears the signatures of Elias Salama and Jose Luis Machinea.
