Mechanical Calculator Sound Deadening Felt Pad, Vintage

This is a dense felt pad that was given or sold to customers of the Monroe Calculating Machine Company office in Toledo Ohio.  It was used on the desk under the calculating machine so the vibrations would not be transmitted to an through the desk.

These were used up until mechanical calculators had been mostly replaced by electronic calculators, around 1975.

Actually, the pads came twice as thick as these being sold here.  In order to keep their costs down, the service or sales department separated the full thickness into two pads each of half the full thickness.  The customer didn't know the difference, and the half-thickness pads worked pretty well anyway.

This sale is for one of the half-thickness pads.

It measures about 15" x 15-1/2" by 3/8" thick.

The pad has some indentations, fold marks, and discoloration (sorry, no choice).  Just turn the pad over to display the better side.

The condition is "used", but it works just fine for the application under your vintage mechanical calculator.

Because of the likelihood that these were simply discarded when no longer needed, they are probably rather scarce.

The calculator shown in the photographs is not included.
