The common faults of oxygen sensors are:
1) Manganese poisoning. Although leaded gasoline is not used, the antiknock agent in the gasoline contains manganese. The manganese ion or manganate ion after combustion will adhere to the surface of the oxygen sensor, preventing it from generating normal signals.
2) After carbon deposits and carbon on the surface of the platinum sheet of the oxygen sensor, normal voltage signals cannot be generated.
3) The internal circuit of the oxygen sensor is in poor contact or open circuit without signal voltage output.
4) The ceramic element of the oxygen sensor is damaged and cannot generate a normal voltage signal.
5) The resistance wire of the oxygen sensor heater is blown or its circuit is open, so that the oxygen sensor cannot reach the normal operating temperature quickly.
The cleaning method of the oxygen sensor is as follows:
Remove the oxygen sensor and use 5-10% ferric chloride solution to add excess hydrochloric acid. The ratio depends on the surface of the sensor head. Soak the oxygen sensor in the solution, take it out after 10-15 minutes, rinse with water, not only the four surrounding holes should be unobstructed, but from the bottom, the carrier inside is white after washing.
If the cleaning is not satisfactory, continue this work until the white carrier can be seen.
After rinsing with water, install the sensor and repeat the fourth step of the measurement. Generally speaking, as long as it is not a sensor from a subsidiary factory, as long as the internal porcelain body does not burst, and the heating resistor does not open, the oxygen sensor that has been cleaned above can return to normal operation.
