A standard toggle switch on a stationary power tool has two problems: you have to take your hand off the work to reach it, and if the power goes out while the blade is spinning, the tool comes back on by itself when power is restored. The POWERTEC 71054 Magnetic Paddle Switch fixes both. The large red paddle stop is large enough to hit with your knee, thigh, or forearm — your hands stay on the workpiece and the machine stops. The magnetic restart protection means if your circuit breaker trips or the lights flicker, the switch drops out and the tool stays off until you manually press the green start button again. No surprise restarts. No tool powering up unattended.
Rated at 120V / 1/2 HP / 9A continuous, this switch handles the standard stationary tool load — table saw, router table, drill press, band saw, jointer, or any 120V single-phase tool within the HP rating. The green recessed ON button requires deliberate finger pressure to start — it won't activate from a bump, a leaning workpiece, or an accidental brush. The unit is UL, TUV, CSA, CE, and ETL listed — full North American and international safety certification for a safety-critical electrical component. Fits standard deep gang boxes and the POWERTEC 71834 gang box.

- After any power interruption (outage, tripped breaker), the magnetic dropout holds the switch open — the green button must be pressed manually before the tool will run again
- Green color signals safe-to-start status — operator confirms readiness before energizing the tool

Power goes out while the table saw is running. Tool de-energizes. Power comes back — tool immediately re-energizes. Blade is spinning before anyone is positioned at the machine. Workpiece left on the table is now being contacted by a running blade. Operator who stepped away during the outage returns to a running saw.

Power goes out while the table saw is running. Magnetic dropout immediately opens the switch contacts and holds them open. Power comes back — tool stays off. The green start button must be manually pressed before the tool will run again. Operator has full control over when the tool re-energizes after any power interruption.
This feature is particularly critical in shops where multiple people work at different times, or where the shop is left unattended while tools are plugged in. It is also required by OSHA for certain stationary equipment in commercial shop environments. - Hardware note: If replacing a switch with M4 mounting screws, 6-32 screws and nuts may be required to mount this switch in the gang box. Standard hardware store item.
- Wiring: Standard single-phase 120V wiring. If you are not comfortable wiring stationary power equipment, consult a qualified electrician before installation.
