Писанки Черкащини є одними з найдавніших в Україні. Вони вже відомі з часів Черняхівської культури, з княжої пори Київської Русі і побутували на Середньому Придніпров’ї довгі роки аж до наших днів. Подано також фрагменти декоративних розписів посуду Трипільської цивілізації, які намальовані в овалі і мають писанкові мотиви. В основу збірника покладена колекція автора, як плід довголітньої збирацької і дослідницької роботи. В цій мініатюрі українського декоративного мистецтва розкривається талановитість, образне мислення і любов до краси рідної землі людей Шевченкового краю.
