Hesperanthia coccinea 'Major'- Schizostyllis coccinea 'Major'.

Common Names:  Crimson Flag Lily, River Lily

Hesperanthia 'Major' is a vigorous  rhizomatous clump-forming perennial to with grassy light green leaves and erect stems bearing lax spikes of up to 10 crimson-scarlet flowers 5-6cm in width, from late summer.Plants grown in a pot and brought indoors before the first severe frost may still be in flower at Xmas.

Best grown in moderately fertile moist soil in full sun but tolerates dry soil and some shade, here growing much less tall and less strongly. Cut down stems after flowering.

Spread: 10 - 50 cm in 2 to 5 years
