Arts and Crafts Compotes Pair Carl Poul Petersen Canada Hand Made Sterling 1945

Art and Crafts sterling silver hand made and hammered compotes by the Master Silversmith Carl Poul Petersen of Montreal, Canada, c.1945. These wonderful Blossom pattern compotes have strong Arts Nouveau influences and are stylistically graceful in their flowing floral design.
Petersen's work draws heavily on the design motifs of his mentor and father-in-law Georg Jensen as Petersen served his apprenticeship in Jensen's Copenhagen workshop from 1908 - 1913, working in Copenhagen until he emigrated to Canada in 1929.
Each of these very special compotes is 8 1/4" tall to the top of the handle, 4" in diameter at the base and has a bowl 7" wide. The pair weigh a total of 1,139 grams or 36.6 ozs. Troy.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. Each has a contemporary script monogram CFF, under the base.
The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
