These are brand spanking new Cole Hersee Master Disconnect Switches.  THE ORIGINAL Steel Case Master Disconnect Switch.   Can be used on 6, 12, 24 and 36 volt systems.  This particular switch is rated by the manufacturer at the amperage shown.  This switch is UL Listed at 40 amps continuous 250 amps inrush at 6 volts.  UL Listings are very conservative.  This Cole Hersee's most popular selling Master Disconnect Switch.  The exact same switch PN 2484-09 without the UL Listing is rated at 1000 amp at 36 volts.  This is  Cole Hersee's most popular selling Master Disconnect Switch.  Copper contacts.The lever is removable so you can make your own  push/pull system if you prefer or if its required.

This is not the wimpy 85 amp or 125 amp switches that others sell this has a 175 amp constant current capacity with a whopping 1000 amp surge capacity.  These are one of the heaviest duty switches available on the market today.  These retail for as much as $50.00.

A little history:

Cole Hersee has  been manufacturing reliable electrical switches for vehicles in Boston for close to 90 years, and throughout our history we've been recognized for our innovative products. Some of our innovative switches have been awarded patents (such as the one shown above granted in 1916).  Many of the electrical and electronic switches and connectors we make today are specified by OEMs, or used as high-quality replacement parts.

Although we take 1924 as the date when Cole Hersee was established our antecedents go back even further to the dawn of the automobile age: The Henry Cole Company of Boston was founded in 1914, as a manufacturer of lamp sockets and other equipment, and the FC Hersee Company was an old-established machine shop. The resources of these companies were combined in the 1930s and the company name changed in 1941 to the brand name that is synonymous today with high quality: Cole Hersee.

In the old days, switches were switches. They were installed on any vehicle, and our switches were fitted into cars, trucks, farm tractors, boats, and even airplanes. Nowadays our focus is more specialized to heavy vehicles, not including the automobile or aerospace industries. Throughout our history, the company has pioneered the development of hundreds of new products and collaborated on many industry standards that are essential to the industry today.

Beware: 
There are dealers on Ebay that sell the Chinese made copies of this switch.   Looks exactly the same except it doesn't say Cole Hersee on it, nor does it have a UL rating.  Hard to tell the difference when you are looking at a stock photo on the Internet.  Some of these dealers sell the Chinese copy for half the price of this switch.  Cole Hersee is the original US manufacturer of this switch.  An easy way to see if the seller is from China is to click on the sellers user name.  When the user reference window opens look at the very bottom right hand line and it will tell you where they are located.  Also if their ad does not state that it is a Cole Hersee product you can bet it is a Chinese copy.
