The can is 40 fluid ounces, is about 6.5" tall and 4" in diameter. I don't think it ever held oil as it's empty and there are no holes. It was part of a collection of old marketing materials (including old silkscreens) so perhaps this was a prototype from back in the day. Regardless, it is in excellent condition overall. There are some small dents, a black stain on the bottom and some scratching to the paint. But, it's in great shape overall with good colour and shine.
