The history of the Donkey Jacket comes from the days when they were standard issued work clothing for construction workers as well as refuse disposal, and had the padding on the shoulders to protect the wool from being scuffed from items such as dust bins and shovels or other items carried on the shoulders. They became a classic clothing item for working class skinheads and have remained so since the 70´s.
Nowadays there are different kinds of Donkey Jacket, unlined jackets with PVC on the shoulders,the tartan lined jackets without the PVC shoulders and even a Jacket with the tartan lining and PVC shoulders

Die Geschichte der Donkey Jacke reicht zurück bis in die Zeit als sie zur standardmäßigen Arbeitsbekleidung von Bauarbeiten und Mitarbeitern der Müllabfuhr in Großbritannien gehörte. Sie war normalerweise an den Schultern gepolstert um das Wollmaterial vor Verschmutzung und Beschädigung zu schützen. Im Laufe der Zeit ist diese Jacke zu einem beliebten Kleidungsstück der Working Class Skinheads geworden und ist dies bis heute.
Heutzutage gibt es verschiedene Ausführungen der klassischen Donkey Jacke. Eine Jacke ohne Innenfutter und mit PVC Schultern, eine Jacke ohne die PVC Schulterpolster und dafür mit Tartaninnenfutter und eine Jacke die beides kombiniert: Tartaninnenfutter und die PVC Schultern.
