High quality, red w/white center, woven felt English key bushing cloth.  We use this exclusively on our restorations, in my opinion it is the best quality available.   Sometimes to get the perfect fit we will use one size on one side of the key mortise and another size on the other side.  It's probably best to have several thicknesses on hand to choose from, this is one of those times it is almost impossible to measure and predict what will work best in a particular piano given the several thousands of an inch variations in keypins, mortises and felt.

Glue keybushings in with hide glue - either from a bottle like Franklin Hide Glue (yes, it's slow setting) or best of all from a glue pot using hide glue crystals (available in my eBay store).  DO NOT use PVC-E!!  We sell it, but it is NOT intended for use with porous to porous material glue joints and it is incredibly difficult to remove later - whether that's because the test bushings you installed are too loose or the bushings wear out in 30 years and need replacement.  Let me say it another way - if you care about the longevity, serviceability and quality of the work you do, use hide glue.  PVC-E is a fantastic glue for adhering plastic keytops to the wooden key (porous to NON-porous application) for not for key bushings or any felt to wood application.  That is not just my opinion, that's the intent of the manufacturer as well.
