The front free endpaper inscribed "Proof Copy Lacking frontispiece portrait from the last, and best, photograph taken of the poet by Walter Pouncy and jacket with illustration of the alternative unused, model for the Dorchester Memorial Statue - Date of Publication to the trade May 31st '49  Price to the public 6/6.". The front cover with green cloth (sunned) as printed, with ms insertion under title "By William Barnes", and "Proof Copy" also added in ms at upper right corner. A few pencil corrections and insertions throughout the book.
