21 black & white photo-type plates from original art work of Kaulbach illustrating scenes from the works of Goethe. 
Plates are pasted on heavy card stock with red printed borders. Most depict Geothe’s female subjects. 
Two plates show Goethe with his Muse and Goethe on ice skates impressing a group of finely dressed ladies. 
One or two pages of German text by Fr. Spielhagen before each plate discuss characters in Goethe's works. 

A much better than Very Good copy. Beautiful illustrations. Text in German.
