Very Rare RenaissanceBronze ofSaint Mary Magdalenefrom the 16th Century. Unfortunately her hands are missing. I believe she was holding no one else but Mother Mary herself to whom the hands are attached. Here she might be looking at the Crucifixion of Jesus, or this is from a group scene where Jesus is carrying the Cross on the way to the Crucifixion. There is a metal attachment that goes through her entire body to the top of her head which I believed held a Halo. She is kneeling and the approximate height excluding the metal protrusion on her head is 12.2 cm. The detail on this piece is wonderful for a miniature bronze. Illustrating detail Clothing of the Renaissance period. The expression of sadness on her face is so vivid, one of true love. This bronze sculpture of St. Mary Magdalene is of Museum Quality.
