This is a heavy brass I believe make up case with mirror in place but no make up. Top has like a pearl in the center and surrounded by sparkling squares that give colorful image when held in the light. Looks like the shiny surface on some sea shells. I do not know the history but do know it is very old. Has some blue paint on the bottom that has peeled away.
