Handcrafted stoneware figural vase by Val Knight Studio, a Montana pottery studio known for handmade Native American–themed stoneware figures (also sometimes referred to by collectors as a “klootchman” figure). This piece depicts a robed woman with braided hair, a turquoise-glazed hair ornament, and a beaded/fringed necklace detail down the front. Comes with the studio’s original leather-tied paper tag, printed with the proverb: “According to an old Indian proverb — He who once drinks of the waters of the North will always return to them.” Signed and dated “VKS ’97” on the base.
