Up for sale is an authentic vintage sports memorabilia piece from Sweden. This is an original participant and award medal from the historic 1993 Finalloppet cross country trail running race.
The rectangular bronze tone medal features a beautifully detailed raised relief scene depicting a runner racing through a classic Swedish landscape, complete with pine trees and a cabin. The bottom of the medal is engraved with the start and end points of the classic original route: Landvetter to Skatas. The front also clearly features the specific race year: 1993.
Finalloppet is one of Swedens oldest, largest, and most prestigious trail and cross country races. Organized by the historic Göteborgs Skidklubb, the race has been held annually without interruption since 1968. It takes place every year during All Saints Day weekend in late October or early November, testing runners through the beautiful and challenging terrain of Western Sweden. The medal comes complete with its original textile neck ribbon in the iconic blue and yellow national colors of Sweden.
