New York’s fascinating origins can be traced back to the early 1600s, when Dutch settlers from the Dutch West India Company arrived on the island of Manhattan. They established a trading post named New Amsterdam, which was administered not by the Dutch Crown, but by the company itself. This strategic outpost soon blossomed into a bustling commercial hub thanks to its harbor and trade routes.
This collectible coin captures that storied legacy — celebrating the bold spirit of enterprise that helped shape one of the world’s most iconic cities. The Dutch influence is still visible today in the city's street names, architecture, and cultural roots. With this coin, you hold a tribute to the foundation of Manhattan, when New York was a fledgling Dutch colony destined for greatness.
