A detailed history of British boxing containing the lives of the most celebrated pugilists, full reports of battles from contemporary newspapers and periodicals, authentic portraits from original prints and paintings, biographical details, personal anecdotes, and sketches of the principal patrons of the times. Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-six plates, two of which are folding. Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece and fifteen plates. Volume III is illustrated with a frontispiece and eleven plates.
