French Louis XVI Style Cassolette Candle Holder

Up for sale is a fine 19th-century French Louis XVI style cassolette candle holder crafted in white Carrara marble and richly chased gilt bronze (ormolu).

The body features three finely detailed ram's heads connected by draped floral garlands. It stands on an athénienne-style tripod base ending in hoof feet, resting on a circular marble plinth with a beaded border. The reversible top allows the piece to function as either a decorative cassolette or a single-light candlestick.

The gilt bronze mounts retain a beautiful warm gilding, with finely detailed chasing throughout. An elegant antique decorative piece for a mantel, sideboard, or refined interior.
