Original Vintage 1972 Tamiment Resort Golf Country Club Restaurant Menu Poconos Pennsylvania

Tamiment opened on June 21, 1921 in the Pocono Mountains of Pike County as Camp Tamiment, a 2,100-acre summer camp founded by New York's socialist Rand School of Social Science to fund the school, and its first guests were members of a Socialist Party local. It became best known for the Tamiment Playhouse, where from 1933 Max Liebman mounted an original revue every Saturday of the ten-week season and worked with Danny Kaye, Imogene Coca, Jerome Robbins, Neil Simon, Woody Allen and Carol Burnett before carrying the format to television's Your Show of Shows; Once Upon a Mattress was first staged there in August 1958. An 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course had opened in 1947, and it anchored the resort's later decades: the playhouse shut in 1960 and was demolished in 1976, the property was sold in 1965 and again in 1982 to Wayne Newton. Tamiment was sold to developers in 2005, its contents auctioned and its buildings cleared for housing.

It measures 10.5" x 7"
