Original Vintage 1970s The Armadillo Restaurant Lounge Menu 354 Walnut Street Fort Collins 111 1st Street La Salle 700 Florida Avenue Longmont Colorado

The Armadillo began in La Salle, Colorado, as the Armadillo Club, a pool hall run by Joe and Lucy Lucio that sold 3.2 percent beer until the family obtained a liquor license and started serving lunch in 1970. Joe Lucio left for real estate in 1972 and his son Louis took over, pulling out the pool tables and the dancing to concentrate on the dining room, and in 1979 opened the Fort Collins restaurant, which he said succeeded immediately with no advertising and gave him the motivation to expand. The family chain grew along the Front Range into a $20 million business by 1999, and the Old Town Fort Collins Armadillo on Walnut Street closed in January 2013.

It measures 14.5" x 8.5" closed and 17" x 14" open
