Tanimoto Kei is a contemporary Japanese ceramic artist working in the Iga tradition. He is known for creating expressive, wood‑fired vessels that emphasise the natural interaction between clay, ash, and flame. His work typically features rugged forms, thick Iga clay bodies, and dramatic firing effects such as green ash glaze (bidoro). Tanimoto’s pieces are highly regarded for their sculptural presence and strong connection to traditional Japanese tea culture.
