The TP-Link Omada EAP225 is an 802.11ac Wave 2 access point designed for small-to-medium businesses and multi-device environments that need centralized Wi-Fi management. It delivers dual-band speeds up to 1350 Mbps with MU-MIMO technology to serve 220+ clients across a single coverage area, and integrates with TP-Link's Omada SDN platform for cloud-based or local network control.
Why This Product
-
MU-MIMO for simultaneous multi-device service
— Unlike standard access points that handle one device at a time per band, MU-MIMO lets this device talk to multiple clients at once, reducing congestion and latency in busy networks.
-
Flexible power: PoE or passive PoE included
— It runs on standard 802.3af PoE or 24V passive PoE, and ships with an adapter. That means deployment from a PoE switch, a standard injector, or the included adapter—no extra hardware required.
-
Omada SDN integration for centralized management
— Control multiple access points and network devices from a single cloud or on-premises dashboard. One interface manages setup, firmware, client roaming, and Wi-Fi scheduling across your whole site.
-
Band steering and beamforming for better coverage
— Band steering automatically pushes dual-band devices to the faster 5 GHz band. Beamforming concentrates the signal toward connected clients rather than broadcasting in all directions.
-
Ceiling-mount design with included hardware
— Mounts flat to a ceiling or wall with brackets in the box. Its compact footprint minimizes visual footprint while covering up to 1250 sq ft per unit.

Compatibility
-
✓ Works with any device that supports 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, or 802.11ac standards (virtually all modern Wi-Fi hardware).
-
✓ Connects to any Gigabit Ethernet network via its single RJ45 port, or draws power from any 802.3af/A PoE switch or the included passive PoE adapter.
-
✓ Integrates with Omada SDN controllers (hardware controller, software controller, or cloud controller) for centralized management; can also operate standalone if needed.
-
✓ Supports up to 16 SSIDs (8 per band), allowing multiple networks or guest networks from a single access point.
-
Note: MU-MIMO benefits require that client devices also support MU-MIMO; older single-user devices will still connect but won't share the simultaneous data advantage.
Best For / Trade-offs
Best for:
-
Small-to-medium offices needing centralized Wi-Fi control across one or more sites
-
Multi-tenant or hospitality environments with high client density (220+ concurrent devices supported)
-
Deployments that require flexible power (PoE switch, passive PoE, or included adapter)
-
Organizations planning to scale: designed to mesh with other Omada access points under central management
-
Environments where ceiling installation hides cabling and minimizes visual clutter
Trade-offs:
-
Large-scale enterprise deployments.
While it supports 220 clients, very large sites typically benefit from higher-end hardware or dedicated management systems.
-
Users who need Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) speeds.
This device tops out at 1350 Mbps across 802.11ac and is not forward-compatible with newer standards.
-
Standalone or mesh networks without SDN infrastructure.
While it can operate alone, its design emphasizes Omada SDN integration; buyers seeking simple plug-and-play may find cloud or local controller setup unnecessary.
-
Environments requiring high transmit power.
Transmission power is limited by FCC/CE regulations (≤24 dBm at 2.4 GHz, ≤22 dBm at 5 GHz), which is standard for unlicensed spectrum but cannot be exceeded.
Description
Outfitted with the latest 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO technology, the EAP225 easily delivers dual-band Wi-Fi speeds of up to 1350 Mbps to multiple devices at the same time.
EAP225 supports both 802.3af PoE and Passive PoE power supply, which can be either powered by a PoE switch or the provided PoE adapter, making deployment effortless and flexible.
†Maximum wireless signal rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual wireless data throughput, wireless coverage, and connected devices are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of internet service provider factors, network conditions, client limitations, and environmental factors, including building materials, obstacles, volume and density of traffic, and client location.
‡MU-MIMO capability requires client devices that also support MU-MIMO.
*Coverage value is calculated based on laboratory testing. Actual coverage is not guaranteed and will vary as a result of client limitations and environmental factors.
