Description

Offered here is a round lidded box in Rosenthal’s Magic Flute design, created by Danish artist and designer Bjørn Wiinblad. The white bisque porcelain has a softly matte finish that lets the detailed raised decoration take center stage.

Wiinblad fills the sides with lively theatrical scenes inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Figures, leafy branches, curling vines, and small dotted accents weave across the rounded surface. A delicate garland band encircles the lid, while the stepped concentric lines on top echo the box’s circular shape. The relief catches the light gently, bringing out the pattern without distracting from its elegant all-white finish.

Wiinblad drew on music, theater, and fairy-tale imagery in his designs. With the Magic Flute collection, he translated the opera into finely detailed porcelain relief, turning an everyday form into a small decorative tableau.
