Introduction
The VALAB 640H Grid Choke replaces the conventional grid resistor used in many vacuum tube circuits. Instead of dissipating signal energy as heat, the grid choke presents an extremely high AC impedance while maintaining very low DC resistance, allowing the tube to operate under more ideal signal conditions.
Although physically small, the improvement can be surprisingly significant in many high-resolution audio systems.

Why Replace the Grid Resistor?
In most tube amplifiers, the control grid is connected to ground through a resistor. Although simple and inexpensive, the resistor inevitably dissipates signal energy.
Replacing the resistor with a properly designed grid choke provides:
