A replacement drive door latch in heat- and UV-resistant ASA for Commodore 1541 drives with the ALPS push-down door. Latch only – rod and spring not included.
The design is based on a latch made for the Commodore 1541 floppy disk drive with the ALPS mechanism, which has the push-down front door. We have not yet confirmed the fit on each model.
It is not intended for 1541 drives with the Newtronics mechanism and lever-type door. It has not been stated whether the design has been tested on a drive.
Check which mechanism your 1541 has before buying. If you are unsure, send us a message through eBay with clear photos of the front of the drive and the door mechanism, so we can help identify what you need.
The designer's instructions use a steel rod and a spring with the latch; neither is included. Please message us before buying if you need to know exactly which rod and spring are required.
The instructions also describe filing the slide tabs and greasing the latch during fitting.
Printed to order in our workshop in Great Dunmow, Essex, in heat- and UV-resistant ASA, black. Fine layer lines are a normal part of the 3D-printed finish.
