HP ProBook 650 G1 Laptop – i5-4210M, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD – eBay Listing
HP ProBook 650 G1 Laptop – Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, Upgraded SSD
Up for sale is an HP ProBook 650 G1 business laptop, a solid and reliable workhorse model built for day to day use. It's been given a couple of free upgrades before listing: the RAM has been doubled from 4GB to 8GB, and the original mechanical hard drive has been replaced with a much faster solid state drive. This is an older laptop and looks it, but it still runs well and is well suited to a low end user who just needs something for everyday browsing, emails, documents and general tasks. There's likely life in it yet for plenty of other uses too.
Free Upgrades Included
This laptop has been upgraded at no extra cost. The original 4GB of RAM has been doubled to 8GB with a matching DDR3 module, and the original 500GB mechanical hard drive has been swapped for a 250GB SATA SSD, giving noticeably faster boot and load times than you'd expect from a laptop of this age.

Windows 10 Installed, Unactivated
Windows 10 Pro has been freshly installed to demonstrate the laptop is fully working, but it hasn't been activated with a licence key. This is simply to prove the system boots and runs correctly. You're welcome to carry on using it as is, activate it with your own licence, or wipe it and install a different operating system entirely, whatever suits you best.
Battery Does Not Hold Charge
The main battery is fully depleted and does not hold a charge, so the laptop needs to remain plugged into the mains at all times to power on and run. It will not operate on battery alone. Please factor this in before buying, it's disclosed here clearly so there are no surprises.
CMOS Battery Depleted
The small CMOS backup battery, which is separate from the main battery, has also run flat. This means that on every power-on, you'll see a brief warning message before Windows loads, and you'll need to press a function key (as prompted on screen) to continue booting. This is a common and inexpensive fix on laptops of this age and doesn't affect how the system runs day to day once past the boot screen.
What is Included
- 1x HP ProBook 650 G1 laptop, with 8GB RAM and a 250GB SSD fitted
- 1x original 500GB mechanical hard drive (HGST, removed during the SSD upgrade)
- 1x genuine HP 65W mains charger
- No manual or other accessories are included
Original Hard Drive Included As Spare Only
The original 500GB HGST hard drive removed during the SSD upgrade is included as a free spare for the buyer. A diagnostic check flagged this drive with a caution health status, showing some reallocated sectors and reported errors, so it's included as seen with no guarantee it's fully reliable. It was last used as the laptop's main drive before the SSD upgrade, so it may still have some life left, but please don't rely on it for anything important.
Benchmarked for Your Reference
I've run HWiNFO to confirm the full system specification, along with CrystalDiskInfo and CrystalDiskMark on both the fitted SSD and the included spare hard drive, to give an honest picture of health and performance. Photos of these results are included in the listing. The SSD shows a Good health status with sequential speeds around 560MB/s read and 375MB/s write, while the spare hard drive, as noted above, shows a caution health status and more modest mechanical drive speeds around 125MB/s read and write.
Plenty of Connectivity
This ProBook has a proper range of physical ports, including Ethernet, VGA, DisplayPort, four USB ports and a built-in DVD drive. Handy if you need the kind of connectivity that's become harder to find on a lot of modern laptops.
Cosmetic Condition
Graded as Grade B used condition. It's not pristine, there's some general wear consistent with a laptop of this age, but it's far from rough either. Please study the listing photos carefully, as they form part of the description and show the exact cosmetic condition of the unit you'll receive.
Offers Welcome
This is listed as Buy It Now but I'm happy to consider offers. If eBay auto-declines your offer for being below my minimum, please don't be put off. Message me directly with the price you had in mind and I'll give it proper thought.
Dispatch Time
Dispatch time is set to 3 working days to allow a little flexibility, but I always aim to get orders packaged and posted the next working day after payment is received wherever possible.
