Here offered is a stunning example of a near-perfect floater consisting of juxtaposed chalcocite crystals growing one on top the other. Some of the chalcocite crystals on the specimen are stunningly large displaying some of the best crystallization I have ever seen from the Butte district. This came from a small lot of specimens that were just labeled as Butte. These were certainly collected underground by a miner since all of the specimens were in amazing condition and individually wrapped in tissue paper. Based on my research of similar specimens, these were likely collected at the Leonard Mine in the mid 1950s or 60s. Absolute superb example of crystallized copper sulfides from Butte!
