“His early work” Wilfred J. “Chick” Huettel – Original Oil Painting – 1972
Beautiful original oil painting by noted American artist Wilfred J. “Chick” Huettel (b. 1942), signed and dated “Chick Huettel ’72” by the artist.
Huettel became particularly known for his paintings of the Tennessee landscape and rural life. In recognition of his dedication to preserving the state’s rural heritage through his artwork, he was officially designated the “Tennessee River Painter” by the 90th Tennessee General Assembly.
Painted in 1972 during Huettel’s Tennessee period, this early landscape beautifully reflects the rural subject matter for which the artist became known. Although the specific location depicted has not been identified, the painting dates from the period when Huettel was painting in Tennessee.
The scene depicts a peaceful rural landscape with a rustic farm building, wooden footbridge crossing a stream, a small figure with an animal, mature trees and distant atmospheric mountains beneath a softly painted sky.
